Dr. Eswara Reddy - Deputy Drugs Controller (I), Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi

Dr S. Eswara Reddy has obtained Masters Degree in Pharmacy from College of Pharmaceuticals Sciences Manipal in 1994 and Ph.D from J.N.T.U, Hyderabad in 2009. He has experience in manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, academic and in Regulations.

He started his carrier as a Drugs Inspector in CDSCO, West Zone, Mumbai in 1998 and has good experience in GMP, GCP and GLP audits and promoted as an Assistant Drugs Controller of India in 2009.

He participated in many national and international seminars/workshops/ meetings on various areas of Drugs regulations and undergone training from USFDA, KFDA, South Korea and WHO, Geneva.

He was invited to make presentations at various seminars and workshops. He got Best Drugs Inspector award in 2005 and Distinguished Alumni Award from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. Dr. Reddy has been awarded with appreciation letters from his superiors for effective implementation of Drug Regulations. He also published articles in various journals.

At present Dr. Reddy is working as a Deputy Drugs Controller of India at CDSCO HQs, New Delhi to assist DCGI in implementation of various provisions of Drugs And Cosmetics Act and Rules including Import Registration of Medical Devices and Diagnostic Kits and other activities.

Dr. Sujoy K. Guha - Chair Professor - School of Medical Science and Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

Dr. Sujoy K. Guha, Chair Professor at the School of Medical Science, Indian Institute of Tedhnology Kharagpur and at the National Institute of Medical Science and Technology, Kharagpur, India graduated in 1961 with B.Tech (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur; followed by Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT and University of Illinois, USA; a PhD in Medical Physiology from St. Louis University, USA and Medical degree with license to practice from Delhi University and Medical Council of India. He has led scientific research which brings about a synthesis of engineering and biomedical sciences and the setting up of academic

programs at the national and international levels.

His work has given a foundation for Biomedical Engineering in India Professor Guha’s technological work has helped develop in India a strong manufacturing base of contraceptives including the Copper T and the Fallopian Tube Occlusion Ring.

Recognized by the conferment of scientific awards by various national bodies like Indian Council of Medical Research; Indian Medical Association; University Grants Commission and National Research Development Corporation as well as international organization, the United Nation.

At present Prof. Guha is developing a Clinical Andrology program and is also the President of the Society of Andrology, India.


Mr. Himanshu Baid - Co Chairman - CII Medical Equipment Division & Managing Director, Poly Medicure Ltd., Faridabad

Mr. Himanshu Baid started his career as a Trainee Engineer with Philips Communications Industry AG, Nurenberg, Germany. After coming back from Germany in 1992, he was involved in his family business for 3 years, manufacturing Plastic Containers. In 1995 he started Poly Medicure Ltd with his brothers and today the company has 6 plants out of which two are overseas in Egypt & China.

Poly Medicure Ltd is one of the fastest growing Medical Devices Company in India and through its R&D initiatives the company has filed approximately 50 International patents worldwide. The company manufactures over 100 different products & exports to more than 80 countries. The group has sales of over Rs 300.00 Crores.

Mr Himanshu Baid also a Co-Chairman of CII Medical technology group and Co - Chairman of PHD chamber Health committee.


Mr. Kishore Khanna - Managing Director - Romsons Group of Industries, Agra

Mr. Kishore Narain Khanna, the Managing Director of Romsons Group of Industries is responsible for the brand “ROMSONS”. He has an insatiable appetite for success and innovation which has led to the cultivation of the brand “Romsons” as an eminent player in the healthcare sector, serving millions of patients worldwide with quality oriented products. Today, Romsons has the largest product portfolio under its Umbrella. Romsons group has been affiliated with the Indian medical device industry for over 65 years and has seen this industry rise and shine.

He started his career with various odd jobs including working long hours on manually operated moulding machines and assembly of products. While attending college at the age of 20 he became the youngest member in the family to join the family business. In the process he learned how much hard work it took to establish an identity. At the age of 30 he took over the family business and brought all kinds of technical changes, process up gradations and mastered the art of innovative manufacturing. He travelled across the globe in search of business and learned the dynamics of international business. It was then that Mr Khanna pioneered many concepts that have proved to be crucial to his success. Dr. Alok Ray - Prof. & Head, Center for Biomedical Engg, IIT & AIIMS, Delhi

Dr. Alok R. Ray is Professor at Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is concurrently Professor at All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. Dr. Ray is also Director of Stanford-Indian Biodesign
program.

He has received his Ph.D. from University of Delhi on Biopolymers. He was a Fogarty Fellow of National Institute of Health, USA at Centre for Polymeric implants, University of Utah, USA during 1982 to 1984. He was a fellow at University of Liverpool,
UK. He was a visiting professor at All Union Cardiology Institute, Moscow, University of Leiden, Netherlands and Max Planck Institute for Polymer sciences, Mainz.

Prof. Ray has made notable contributions in the area of biocompatible materials. Unique feature of his research is that starting from synthesis/modification, characterization, he has gone up to the stage of engineering and designing of such materials for
use in human medicine and surgery viz.: medical devices and implants, drug delivery systems, catheters used for blood vessels.

Prof. Ray has acquired the reputation of being a leader in the area of compatibility of materials with living tissues. His work in this area has been highly cited and the work reported has been further extended by other authors worldwide.

He has developed nine biomedical products and published over 150 articles in professional journals and is a consultant to several industries. He was President of Society for Biomaterials and Artificial Organ (India) from 2009 to 2011.

Prof. Ray has been awarded TATA INNOVATON FELLOWSHIP for the year 2007-2008 in recognition of his research contribution in the area of material used in Human Medicine and Surgery.


Mr. Ajay Pitre - Chief Mentor - Adler Mediequip Pvt. Ltd, Pune

Mr. Ajay Pitre took charge of the Sushrut-Adler Group operations as ‘Managing Director’ in 1987 after he graduated in commerce. He further did a course in ‘Management for Small and Medium Enterprises’ at The Indian Institute of Management. While handling the diversified activities of Sushrut - Adler Group, Mr. Pitre has set for himself high standards of performance to excel in the areas of strategic planning, implementation and resource management. The group has achieved noticeable milestones under Mr. Pitre’s exceptional leadership qualities and vision over the last two decades.

Mr. Pitre is the Ex-Chairman of CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) Medical Equipment Division (MLED). He has been a part of the Core Committee advising the Indian Regulators on evolving current Medical Device Regulations and Implementation Strategies. He is also a member of various committees of professional organizations and government agencies such as CII Healthcare Committee, Medical Device Forum of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry), Sub-Committee for standardization of Orthopaedic Implants of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Indian Orthopaedic Association Implants Committee (IOAIC), Governing Council- Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). Mr. Pitre is one of the founder members of the Indian Medical Devices Association and a Co Opt Member of Committee of Administration of Pharmexcil. Mr. Pitre is a member of Governing Board CMTI (Central Manufacturing Technology Institute).

In 2003, The Indian Orthopaedic Association honored him with a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ in recognition for the contributions to the Orthopaedic fraternity in India.
