A TECHNO-ECONOMIC NEWS MAGAZINE FOR MEDICAL PLASTICS AND PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY
Our 30th Year of Publication

From Editor's Desk

Like any other sector, the Plastic industry or the Medical Device Industry is also witnessing emerging trends.

More and more developments by Medical Polymer Companies made available to the Indian Industry has created both, the growth opportunities as well as opportunity to move up the value chain by offering high end critical care products. While there are plenty of them as covered in this magazine from time to time, a few of them are reproduced and highlighted in the Cover Story in this issue. This includes important polymeric materials, medical plastic tubing, emerging and critical applications, medical textiles, medical packaging, 3D printing, testing methods as well as importance of ISO 13485 for Medical Materials and Component suppliers etc.

The “Did You Know” column in this issue highlights a very important development of a 3D printer for implant-grade silicone for nasal, breast, airway stent and chin by a company, Prayasta, incubated in IISc. As per Mr Garg, Silicone is the best implantable material. But conventional printers cannot handle impant-grade silicone because of its high viscosity.
