Kalam Institute of
Health Technology (KIHT), a Department of
Biotechnology funded institute in the domain of
MedTech policy is a premiere institute for Health
Technology Assessment (HTA) in India. It aims to
facilitate focused research on critical components
pertaining to medical devices and drugs by supporting
institutions involved with R&D, industry, policy
makers and knowledge repositories.

Kalam Institute of
Health Technology (KIHT), is a partner with Department
of Health Research (DHR), Govt. of India as a regional
hub for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in India.
As a regional hub of Department of Health Research, (MOHFW)
the cell undertakes HTA to appraise the innovative
medical devices in terms of their clinical efficacy,
cost effectiveness, ethical, legal and societal
aspects.
2. National
Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Govt. of
India
Kalam Institute of
Health Technology (KIHT) is a Price Monitoring
Resource Centre (PMRU) for National Pharmaceutical
Pricing Authority (NPPA). Has been entrusted with the
task of – Monitoring the notified prices of medicines,
detection of violation of the provisions of DPCO
(revised from time to time), pricing compliance and
ensuring availability of medicines.
3. Joanna Briggs
Institute, University of Adelaide
Undertakes
systematic review and meta-analysis of medical devices
and health policies as a collaborative centre of
Joanna Briggs Institute, University of Adelaide
Support repository of medical device specific best
practices, technology upgrades, skill building
programs and knowledge sharing platforms.
4. The
comparative Health Outcomes, Policy, and Economics
(CHOICE) Institute School of Pharmacy, University of
Washington
Undertake knowledge
sharing and evaluation system for outcomes research
and key evaluation of programs, projects and
innovations. Jointly work for dissemination of
methods, measures and evidence generation for
universal health coverage and role of technology in
healthcare as well as publication of research methods,
protocols and research outcomes.
5. International
Journal of Health Technology
The International
Journal of Health Technology is a part of KIHT, Open
Access Journal publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts on
healthcare technology and industry research, focussing
on inter and cross disciplinary approach which would
strategically be having huge impact on our health
technology ecosystem and some of the domains such as
biomedical engineering, bioinformatics,
nanotechnology, digital health, medical devices etc.
It aims at rapid publication of high-quality research
results while maintaining rigorous review process.
Indian
Biomedical Skill Consortium
Andhra Pradesh
MedTech Zone (AMTZ), Association of Indian Medical
Manufacturers of Medical Devices (AiMeD) and National
Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB)
under the Quality Council of India (QCI) have jointly
established “Indian Biomedical Skill Consortium (IBSC)”
to provide certification system for Biomedical
Engineers in the country who serve as the backbone of
the healthcare services. IBSC strengthens the
Biomedical Skill Sector in the country through
training programs approved by National Skill
Development Agency (NSDA) and is aligned with National
Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) under the
Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
IBSC conducts
certification courses for enriching knowledge and
career growth for the young engineers. There are five
certification courses conducted which include
certificate in Biomedical Engineering, Certificate in
Biomedical Maintenance, Certificate in Biomedical
Project Management, Certificate in Biomedical
Manufacturing and Certificate in Quality Assurance.
